On Thursday, October 24th, 2019 residents of Carlton Hollow Apartments enjoyed a book talk with local author, Ray O’Conor. His narrative nonfiction book She Called Him Raymond: A True Story of Love, Loss, Faith, and Healing, tells the story of his mother and her first husband and how they found love during one of the most tumultuous times in history, the Great Depression and World War II. It was truly a captivating story and residents loved listening to Ray discuss why he decided to write it. Check out some photos of the event below.
In Ray’s book talk, he discussed the journey he went on to write his book on behalf of his mother.
After the presentation, residents were able to ask questions about the book. Some even told their own war stories and discussed how they could relate to it.
